Meet Katie

The contemporary interior design team is led by Katie Thomas, the Co-founder of KTM Design. 

Katie is the South West Regional Director for the Society of British & International Design (SBID), a Visiting Lecturer at the Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) and a Guest Speaker at property, design and educational shows around the UK. Katie is surrounded by a team of experienced contemporary interior designers who work to exceptionally high standards.

We offer full contemporary interior design, furnishing and fitout services to give your space a modern feel. 

We are KTM Design, a creative team of professional contemporary interior designers who specialise in creating modern spaces in commercial, hospitality, residential, public areas.

Contemporary interior design is a simple, subtle and modern style of decorating which often plays with texture and clean lines. Essentially, a contemporary area showcases the space in a room which can be a real breath of fresh air. 

From our initial consultation where we’ll discuss your contemporary interior design project through to construction and handover, we’ll work closely with you to ensure you get the most out of your space and we strive to exceed your expectations.

contemporary interior design process

Step 1: Design brief

We’ll visit the site to get a better understanding of how the space comes together so we can start to realistically consider what could be done to transform the area.

Step 2: Concept design

Using information from the brief, we’ll get to work on creating an initial design plan, which will include 3D models, floorplans, fabrics and furniture.

Step 3: Design development

We’ll then begin to refine the interior layouts, taking into account economic, environmental and construction needs.

Step 4: Technical design

We create a fully-detailed technical construction pack, finish schedules and FF&E specifications for the new workspace area.

Step 5: Construction

Construction work will then begin and we’ll work closely with the contractors to ensure that the work fits in with the design plan throughout the process.

Step 6: Handover and close out

Once construction has finished, we'll visit the site to assess whether any further work is necessary, this is to ensure that both ourselves and the client are happy with the new contemporary space. When you’re happy with the area, the project will come to a close.
