Our interior design process
If you’re looking for interior designers in Lyme Regis, you’ve come to the right place. If you’ve not undergone an interior design project before, you might be wondering how the process works - we’ve provided a brief summary of the stages involved at KTM Design (which are designed around the RIBA’s Plan of Work, the UK model for building and construction processes) to give you a better idea but please note that this can vary depending on the scale of your project.
Preparation brief and budget
Firstly, we’ll discuss the project and what you hope to achieve from your new space. We’ll establish what your budget is, the timescale we have to complete the work and set some goals so that we can work towards achieving them.
Concept design
We’ll start to explore finishes and design styles as we develop floor plans and spatial layouts. Our talented team of interior design specialists will create early 3D models and visuals whilst also considering furniture, fabrics and lighting for the new space.
Design development
At this stage we’ll begin to refine the interior layout, materials and finishes as well as specifying lighting concepts and mechanical and electrical (M&E) requirements. Throughout this process, we’ll be taking into account the construction team’s needs and requirements.
Technical design
Our team will put together a construction pack, finishing schedules and furniture, fixtures and equipment specifications (FF&E) for each space. Details of sanitary, joinery and electrical requirements will also be included.
Construction
Once the contractor has been appointed, we can begin construction. We’ll be working closely with the contractors and FF&E suppliers to ensure the project’s success and we’ll also advise if any specialist subcontractors will be required.
Handover and close out
The final stage involves us visiting the site to determine if any further work is necessary to ensure the brief is fulfilled. Once both ourselves and the client are happy, the project will draw to an end.
