Gosh, what a year!  Little wonder that we’re all desperate to throw ourselves into Christmas decorating super-early and with real gusto, determined to make this Christmas a little bit extra.

Go for it we say! Festoon those fabulous fairy lights! Far from being twee, these little gems can transform any home into a sparkling winter wonderland in minutes. Here are our top tips for creating instant magic with fairy lights this Christmas:

Quite literally Deck Your Hall

Warm white lights pinned from floor to ceiling and across can create a magical archway, beckoning your guests to explore further. Drape lights across your hallway console table too or wind a battery operated set into a glass vase on your console.

Stairway to heaven

Trail them up your stairs, wind them around bannister spindles to give your hallway real wow-factor. Create a beautiful, softly lit mantlepiece simply by draping lights across and keeping in place with a few church candles. Add seasonal foliage such as spruce, yew or ivy for sumptuous texture and that natural Christmas fragrance.

Glowing fire

Bundle lights around logs in your unlit fireplaces too, to generate a warm, golden glow.

Divine Dining

Trail fairy lights across your Christmas dining table, winding them around your centrepieces as they go. Safer than candles, especially when it comes to having small children around the table.

Looping fairy lights around the pendant light above your dining table can create a softer, more diffused light for relaxed evening dining.

You can even style up your drinks table or trolley with lights for new year’s eve! If we can’t go out and party, all the more reason to make staying in super special this year.
